Ice keeps melting!
February 4, 2021
According to a recent global satellite study, the Earth's ice is shown to continue melting and faster than ever before. About 28 Trillion metric tons of ice have melted within a 23 year period from 1994-2017. Yes, the Earth's ice will naturally melt with time. However, the global melting rate has risen 65% since the 1990s (Source: Dr. Thomas Slater, researcher at U.K. University of Leeds Centre for Polar Observation and Modeling).
In fact, the past seven years have been the warmest in our planet's history. While, 2020 was not as warm as 2016 it was still above normal and one of the hottest years since the pre-industrial era. The earth's ice will NOT completely melt in the upcoming years but the rise in global temperature may further increase the melting rate of ice.
